Red Wing Shoes

GODS OF FOOTWEAR

In Grecian mythology there’s a God by the name of Hermes. Hermes, the messenger god, was gifted a pair of magical winged sandals that allowed him to fly. We don’t mean to brag, but, that was our craftsmanship, the original Red Wing Shoe. This is “What’s Your Roman Empire” reimagined. Amassing a mighty 1.6 billion posts and 893 million views on TikTok, this trend took the world by storm, and was mentioned in Time magazine. Featuring some of history’s greatest inventors and intellectuals: Archimedes, Aristotle, Euclid; Ancient Greece proves there is no society, no mythology, better suited to represent the mighty Red Wing Shoe.

How come Hermes gets to be the only one with magic shoes? Well, he doesn’t. Introducing a new line of boots: The Gods and Goddesses Collection. This new line will be inspired by deities from Greek mythology. The initial lineup will consist of hunting/hiking boots inspired by Artemis the Hunter and her twin brother Apollo the Archer, and steel-toed work boots inspired by Hephaestus the Blacksmith.

MYthology

Red Wing x Birkenstock

United by a shared passion for leatherworking, we are collaborating with Birkenstock to create a new strapped sandal with a subtle winged flair and athletic capabilities, mimicking the style of ancient Grecian sandals.

Odyssey of Red Wing - Podcast

Red Wing Shoes will be launching a Spotify podcast that covers stories from Greek mythology starting with Prometheus and the theft of fire from Hephaestus, one of the Gods representing our new signature shoe.

Modern Medicine

Ever heard of the ‘Hippocratic Oath’? Ya, that’s named after an Ancient Grecian, aka the Grecian responsible for the foundation of modern medicine - Hippocrates. Today, we do all we can to support our healthcare workers: providing non-slip shoes to hospital workers, raising money for charitable healthcare foundations with our Limited Edition ‘Mythology’ shoe line, and providing EMT workers with reliable tactical boots for frontline service.

Graffiti Sprawl

No, we can’t enlist the help of the elusive Banksy, however Red Wing Shoes is commissioning local artists, in the spirit of the Golden Age of art in Greece, to paint Gods and Goddesses, wearing Red Wing shoes, across walls in the iconic cities of Boston, New York City, Denver, Miami, and of course at our headquarters in Red Wing, Minnesota.

#GreekEmpire

Capitalizing off the recent success of the ‘Roman Empire’ trend, Red Wing Shoes will launch its own viral hashtag, ‘Greek Empire’. The prompt will encourage people to ask their significant other how often they really think of the Greek Empire and its mythologies.
